At Silvia K Ceramics, every piece begins in my sketchbook. My drawings form the foundation for the models and plaster moulds I create.

I take a hands-on approach to every stage of the process, from mixing my own casting slip to crafting glazes and decorating slips. This commitment to every stage of production results in ceramics that are thoughtfully made, with a focus on functionality, durability, and a sense of timelessness over fleeting trends.

My expertise was developed during my four years at the University of Brighton, where I completed an MDes in Ceramics and Visual Research in 2012.

I am an active member of the Crafts Council and a Master Artisan at the Homo Faber Michelangelo Foundation. In 2019, I was honoured to receive a grant from the Government of Kuwait and World Crafts Council Europe to represent the UK at Kuwait Craft Week. My work has also been recognised with awards including the Elle Decoration Design Awards in 2016 and New Designers One Year On in 2013.

In 2023, I was invited by Habitat to be one of their guest designers. I collaborated with a Portuguese artisan factory to design a collection of ceramic homeware, which became part of Habitat’s 60th Anniversary Collection.

I have proudly showcased my collections with renowned retailers including The Conran Shop, The New Craftsmen, Heal’s, March San Francisco, Malmstenbutiken Stockholm, Artek Helsinki, Bongénie Grieder, Le Bon Marché Paris, Provide in Vancouver, Stahl & Band in Los Angeles, and Idée Japan. My work has also led to commissions with interior designers across the UK and internationally.

Alongside my studio practice, I worked as a technical demonstrator in the Ceramics Department at the University of Brighton from 2015 to 2017. During this time, I developed strong teaching experience, specialising in hand-building techniques, surface decoration, slip casting, and mould making. I now also run small group classes in my studio.

My name is Silvia Kamodyová, and I’m from Slovakia. I live and work in Brighton, UK, where I founded my ceramic studio in 2012, shortly after graduating. I am committed to authenticity and timeless design, and I handle every stage of production in-house, allowing me to focus on quality, functionality, and durability in each piece.
